Our first special snack! They had to guess what they were going to design based on the parts placed on their plates. I got lots of giggles when they said they could smell the frosting and I told them their noses were wrong--I was giving them cheese sauce! They have a great sense of humor and such special giggles. Wish I could bottle them.
Our first "real" cooking project was a complete success! We didn't even make something to eat, but we giggled and loved watching the scientific reaction of the ingredients as I tried so hard not to make a mess (which always happens). We made two batches of GAK in honor of our week playing and using the letter Gg. Our first batch was a deep pink and then we made GREEN. I hope you love playing with GAK at your house as much as we had fun playing with it at our kindergarten tables. It is so easy to make and I promised the kids to give you the recipe!

Our second cooking project was to make applesauce from some of the apples we bought at Showalter's Apple Orchard on our first field trip. We used a "long ago" apple press after we chopped up and cooked our apples. We found out it sure is easier to go to Wal-Mart and buy a jar of applesauce. But, ours was oh so yummy!
Friday, October 18th brought a great story to our class. Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper was so much fun that we just had to make our own pumpkin soup. After we ate (er, drank it), we made a list of who liked it and who didn't. Get ready for another pumpkin recipe next week!
Friday, October 25th, brought one more pumpkin recipe. Pumpkin fluff. Served with crunch goodness of graham crackers. This recipe was faster and sweeter than last week's pumpkin soup. Everyone dug in happily!
